Hair Tutorial: 3 Ways to Create a Braided Headband

Super Easy Way

The super easy way to create a braided headband is to buy one from the shop! Simply go to your local accessory shop and colour match your hair with one of the braided headbands. I buy my braided headbands from Xtras.

To fit the headband, backcomb your hair slightly at the front and then slide the headband onto your hair. You can add a hair grip at the side to stop it from slipping out if necessary, but make sure you hide it.

Medium Way

If you want to use your real hair to create a headband, but still want to create it quickly, then this method is for you.

Take a section of hair from the bottom of the back of your head. Plait it all the way down and secure it with an elastic. If you have short hair, you will need to do the same on the other side. If your hair's long you only need to do it on one side.

Backcomb the front of your hair slightly, to stop it from parting and then pull the plaits over your head one at a time. Secure then in place with hair grips and tuck the ends of each plait under the other plait so they can't be seen. Also make sure the elastic is hidden.

Spray with hairspray and you're good to go!

Hard Way

If you want to show off your braiding skills then the harder way is for you.

Tilt your head to the side and sweep all of your hair over.

Section off a piece of hair that is the same width of your ear.

Begin to french plait the hair, adding sections from the FRONT of your hair as you go along. Don't add sections from the back.

When you get to the other side, secure your hair with either an elastic or hair grip and secure it behind a piece of hair so it's not visible.

Spray with hairspray.
