My Illamasqua Makeover Experience

9:00 am

As my 18th Birthday was approaching, I made a trip to Illamasqua in Leeds, to book in to have my makeup done for my big night out. I’ve never had my makeup done by Illamasqua before, but I am a big fan of their products. I was told the service would cost £50, which would be redeemable on products. I booked my self in and I was given a gift voucher to take home with me, which I would bring with me on the day.

The day arrived and I made my way to the store, which is located in the Victoria Quarter. A friendly lady greeted me and told me that my makeup artist would be with me shortly.

I had brought a photo with me that I had found on Instagram of a makeup look that I wanted. It was a winged out smoky look with different colours and shimmers. I wanted something dramatic so that I looked different.  I showed Drew, my makeup artist, the photo and she went off to collect some products.

Drew started with my eyebrows first and then moved onto my eyes. I must admit, I did look a little bit scary with just my eyebrows done, but bit-by-bit it all came together. Once the eyes were done she moved on to the rest of my face and applied my false eyelashes last. There was a mirror at the side of me so I could look at my makeup as it progressed, and drew checked that I was happy after each stage. I picked up lots of little tips from Drew that I could use at home when I do my own makeup.

Once my makeup was all done and I had seen the finished look, I was asked which products I would like to take home. As I was going on a night out, I chose to take all of the products that were used on my lips.  This included the lipstick in the colour Bare, the lip pencil in the colour Woo, the lip-gloss in the colour Opulent and then the false eyelashes on top of that. They had an offer on at the time where if you spent over £60, you could get a free full sized mascara or contour stick. I chose to take home the contour stick as I already had lots of mascaras. All the products were placed into a little Illamasqua bag, with the eyelash box, ready for me to take home.

I really enjoyed my time at the Illamasqua store. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and Drew did an amazing job with my makeup. I couldn't believe how smooth my skin looked and bold my eyes were. I will DEFINITELY be going back for my makeup doing again! It was a good job I was going out after the appointment otherwise I think I would have bought everything in the shop! If you want your makeup doing for an event, then this is the place you need to go. However, make sure you book in advance as they do get booked up quickly.
